Plaistow - The Crow
One of the best jazz trios on a net label, Plaistow already has two albums of jazz that straddles mainstream and avant-garde sensibilities. Their newest The Crow on the excellent Insubordinations net label continues their almost perfect run of imaginative improvisatory music. The first track is totally in the avant-garde lane but effortlessly switches into the tonal in the second track. In fact, Plaistow’s songs merges into each track like an ongoing concert. Again, the trio of pianist Johann Bourquenez, bassist RaphaĆ«l Ortis: and drummer Cyril Bondi makes for a fine jazz outing .
