Chopin - Ballades No. 1-4 for piano
Frederic Chopin’s four ballades for piano are very emotional and technically difficult pieces. The exemplary rendition featured here were recorded in 1933 on 78rpm discs. The pianist is Alfred Cortot. He was a notable performer of classical pieces from the Romantic Era, especially those of Schumann and Chopin. For the record, the full titles of these piano works are…
Ballade No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 23.
Ballade No. 2 in F Major, Op. 38.
Ballade No. 3 in A-Flat Major, Op. 47.
Ballade No. 4 in F Minor, Op. 52.
The 1933 recordings are quite good considering the age. They have been transferred to monaural MP33 files by F. Reeder.
