Jenny Gillespie - Love and Ammunition EP
Jenny Gillespie may remind most listeners of the contemporary alt.country of Aimee Mann but I hear the clear influence of classic rock singer/songwriters such as Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins. Her six track, 27 minutes EP titled Love and Ammunition was recorded in Austin, Texas in the year of 2004. It is a immaculate and professional production that you would except from the legendary music studios of Austin. But Ms. Gillespie is to up the challenge and soars through this all too short effort. All the songs are originals and have a sound that is between quality pop and alt.country. She maintains an emotional “girlish growl” throughout (her term not mine!) that causes her to rise above the Lilith Fair wanna-bees that crowd the FM airways. Exceptional songwriting, moving vocals, and strong production values make this a must download.
The album is available from Internet Archive’s Open Source Audio in VBR MP3 and Ogg Vorbis format. If you like the music support the artist by purchasing the higher sound quality CD from CD Baby.

Thanks for posting about my music, Marvin! I also have a new CD called LIGHT YEAR that is available on CDBaby and Itunes. Here’s the link to it on Cdbaby: http://cdbaby.com/cd/jennygillespie4

This is an excellent EP! A nice mix of ballads and uptempo songs. Marvin, I am very glad you found this and wrote about her music.
