Bach - The Well-Tempered Clavier, Books I and II

Genre: Classical

Free Albums Galore previously highlighted an album of Johann Sebastian Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier that was released by Magnatune. However, Magnatune is now in the habit of concluding each free track with a little advertisement which is, while very understandable, a bit annoying to those who want their free tracks unadorned. (Yes, I’ve bought the album and I recommend you do the same). So I was delighted to see that one of my favorite pianists from The Piano Society has released his own commercially unencumbered version of Book I and II of The Well Tempered Clavier. Chris Beemer, as usual, does a very nice job interpreting these classic keyboard works which are considered an essential part of the keyboard repertoire. You will also find a complete recording of book I by pianist John Grant Lewis on the same page. Listen to them all, pick your favorite and go with it. Or keep all three. You can never have enough Bach recordings even if they are of the same composition!
