Gosprom - Broadway
Gosprom is a different kind of trip-hop band coming out of Kharkov, Ukraine. Actually, I’m not really sure what genre this eccentric but appealing group of artists should be called. The combination of clarinet, bass, and drum blends with turntablist electronics and a sensual female vocalist. Their online album is available from Random Flow and is titled Broadway. The title track is a catchy teaser to the rest of album, seducing the listener with a contagious beat and a flirty melody. The second track “Sweater” is a little more serious and has a nu-jazz sensibility. There is a lot of variety in this album from the burlesque “Jacket of Fop” to “Ha-Ha” which borders on the experimental. Trip-hop, Nu-Jazz, or electronica? It doesn’t matter when the music is this good.
