Arcticology - three albums
I usually enjoy ambient albums as a form of meditation or deep relaxation. However, as a pure listening experience the genre seems to be very limited and one deep relaxation album tends to sound like every other one on the market. Arcticology is a pseudonym for a Bournemouth student who has been creating imaginative ambient / drone compositions since 2007 and appears to understand how to make this genre something more than pretty background music. His three albums, all released in 2008 and titled Deep Spring, Music for Dreamers and Looking For Satellites, are freely available at his web site. This is some of the most beautiful soundscapes I’ve heard in a long time. They are most reminiscent of the early ambient works of Brian Eno. The name Arcticology is an interesting choice. There is a sparse and barren environment in these works but not necessarily cold and detached. After an extended listen, these tracks can get under your skin and radiate a warm emotional feeling. Download these albums and give them a little time to work on you. You will enjoy them.
The three albums are available in 320kbps mp3 through a full album zip. If you enjoy the music support the artists and make a donation. After all, he’s a student so he probably needs the money!
