Mike Link & Harvey Taylor - Beat Elementals

Genre: World, Jazz

Mike Link and Harvey Taylor have released their second album titled Beat Elementals continuing their successful blend of jazz and world music that was evidenced on their first album. Link’s keyboards and electronics still perfectly meld with Taylor’s cool trumpet style. Some of the tracks remind me a little of Bill Laswell’s world music hybrid. Aside from Link and Taylor’s usual impeccable playing they are joined by some excellent musicians, most noticeably the flute and vocals of Holly Haebig which can be heard to good effect on “Silver Swirl” and “PuraVeda”. “Room For All” has some intriguing didgeridoo work by Julio Pabon. Other fine tracks include “Angels of Mercy”, “Blue-Green Patina”, and “Sun Tour”. This is another exceptional album of jazz and world grooves from this Milwaukee-based jazz-fusion duo.

The album is available from Jamendo by the download link below in VBR MP3. If you enjoy the music support the artist by buying their CDs.

  1. as good as their earlier crossing the bridge album, excellent!
on other matters, marvin, i know this is nor pertinent here, but since i’ve got nowhere with jamendo queries/forum, would you have any idea if jamendo disallows download managers on purpose? i constantly get a 500 internal server error from jamendo when i use speed download. download manager is essential for me as i am up near the himalayas, far away from broadband/dial up and only net access is a cdma-cellphone carrier usb modem, with30- 40kbps peak DL :-( and downloads within the browser inevitably get timed out making me start all over again from zero.

  2. Afraid I can’t answer your question. I do know that Jamendo downloads mess up easily even without a download manager. I regularly get shutoffs and have to try 2-3 times before successfully downloading. Hopefully Jamendo will eventually recognize the problem and fix it.
