The Martial Arts - Your Sinclair

Genre: Rock, Pop

There must be something in the air of Glasgow, Scotland that fosters cheerful optimism. Although sounding nothing like that other Glasgow band, The Martial Arts still radiate a similar sense of fun and innocence. Their album, Your Sinclair is power pop mixed with some 60s British invasion styled rock. This is happy but hard rocking music that is so light-hearted you can forget how well constructed it really is. Try the opening track, “Murry and Audree” for a taste then follow it up with the infective “Don’t Want to Talk”, my favorite track on the album. “Mod Vai” is one of the more hard-driving songs while “Contemptuous Disdain” is a witty and exceptional number. If the Pop Gods are listening, this band should be going far in the future.

The album is available from Last.fm as separate tracks in 128kbps MP3. If you like the music, be sure to support the artists by buying the CD in better quality sound.

  1. hmm… just went to their myspace page and the free download file seems to have been deleted already.. both the RAR and the ZIP file.
oh well… keep up the good work, though… you bring a lot of new and interesting music of all genres to these wide open ears.

  2. Hey, the tunes are great, but only 5 tracks are available. Looks like they’ve pulled the freebie for the entire album.

  6. I think the album was only available until January. You can still get all songs from last.fm. The MP3s are 128kb/s, though.

  8. I changed the link to the last.fm page. They must have taken off of Myspace on April 1st since the link was working on March 31st. I really wish people would state whether a free album link is temporary and for how long but what you goin’ to do?.

  9. Hi, I’m from the band, sorry about slacking off - I forgot to re-upload the files which I have to do every two weeks. They are working again now and I’ve noted it in my diary. We were originally giving it away until Christmas, then January but have decided to give it away indefinitely. Thanks for the interest!

  10. The files on the Martial Arts’ Myspace page are still inoperable…and BTW, so is the link to my blog:(. Once they are working I will put them on the post along with the Last.fm download page for your album.

  11. Looks like myspace are not allowing direct links of this variety to their profiles anymore. For the time being I’ve created a Virb page for the album. You can download it here:- http://www.virb.com/themartialarts/music/albums/60248
