Canon Blue - Halcyon EP
Canon Blue plays a haunting combination of ambient mixed with indie rock. The all too brief EP titled Halcyon is essentially a 17 minute, 4 track sampler of their music. The title track teases with a lush drone then breaks into a lilting melody. “Ennui” is my favorite song. It is the best showcase for the band’s soft vocals and harmony. There is an unmistakable Brian Wilson influence on this tune. “Avatar Furr” and the instrumental “Kingfisher Sweet” wraps up this short but beautiful album. Halcyon EP is a strong effort and a promising look at a talented band’s future.
