Trio BWW - Trio BWW

The self titled album by Trio BWW is close to 40 minutes of percussive, atonal and very experimental music. Nusch Werchowska in on piano although you will be hard pressed to find any conventional keyboard sounds. Although the liner notes states he is influenced by Cecil Taylor I hear more post classical influences in the manner of John Cage or Pierre Boulez. Mathieu Werchowski plays violin using long mournful drones and quiet minimal phrasing. Alto Saxophonist Heddy Boubaker, who is also featured in Rosa Luxemburg New Quintet, does a good job interacting with the sounds of the trio and does some tasteful but unconventional playing. Those who are looking for free jazz cacophony should look elsewhere. The improvisation on this album is a well thought out , almost cerebral endeavor requiring some patient and attentive listening. It is well worth the extra effort.

The album is available from the Insubordinations netlabel as separate tracks or album zip of 256kbps MP3.
