Mike Link & Harvey Taylor - Crossing The Bridge
Keyboardist Mike Link and Trumpeter Harvey Taylor have put together a delectable set of jazz fusion / world groove tracks. In addition, Crossing The Bridge throws in a bit of smooth jazz, some soulful funk and basic good vibes that will loosen up your day and put a little attitude in your stride.
The groove get started from the first track, “The Straits of Gibraltar”. Taylor’s Miles Davis influenced trumpet smokes and steams throughout while Link has a nice swampy keyboard / electronic thing going for him. World beats are especially evident in “Swoop”. “Tabla Rasa” and Night Song”. My favorite track is the sensuous smooth jazz track “Port Noir”. On each tune exotic soundscapes are combined with intelligent and imaginative improvisation. This is a fusion album that will delight those who enjoy world beat “mood” music yet will still appeal to the more demanding jazz fan.
The album is available from Last.fm in 128kbps MP3. You can also get it via bittorrent at 192kbps bitrate from Jamendo. If you enjoy the music support the artists by buying the CD.
