The Houston Drone Concern - Variations For Bob Ostertag

As far as drones go you can’t get more basic than the music created by Daniel de Los Santos a.k.a.The Houston Drone Concern. Long notes continue on and on until replaced by longer notes with no real relationship to melody or rhythm. This is minimalism at its most basic. However, there is something absolutely riveting about how the artist fits it all together.

Variations For Bob Osterstag is a form of tribute to the famed composer and artist who is not a drone maker. The inspiration for this work is Bob Ostertag’s A Melody, No Bitterness which is also freely available on the internet. Daniel’s remix is a radically different work and stands out as an entirely independent composition. It makes for a fascinating listen and is highly recommended as is the album that is its inspiration.

The 28 minutes EP is available as an album zip in 256kbps MP3.
