Billie The Vision & The Dancers - two albums

Genre: Pop, Folk

The listeners can be forgiven if Billie The Vision & The Dancers instantly reminds them of Belle and Sebastian. There’s a similar wistfulness and innocence in their music. However the Swedish folk-pop band is definitely on to their own sound and deliver just a little more bite in the deceptively pastoral lyrics and melodies. Lars Lindquist handles the vocal duties with a competence made from life’s experiences. The lyrics are full of longing and regret that evokes a feeling of being there and reliving the pain or pleasure.

Two full albums are available for free downloading. The first album is titled I Was So Unpopular in School and Now They’re Giving Me This Beautiful Bicycle and is delightful from the first track on. “Summercat” is the perfect track to hook you with its catchy melodies and light but sad lyrics. Lindquist’s lyrics tends to be autographical but at an easy going intimate pace. The ballad “Ask For More” is almost devastating in it’s lyrics about tragedies in life and love. It’s my favorite track in an album full of memorable lyrics and beautiful melodies.

The World According To Pablo offers more of the same intimate songs. The acoustic arrangements continues to be almost perfect with its soft horns and aggreeable guitars and percussions. Favorite tracks include “Go To Hell” and the wittingly rebellious “Come On Baby”, and “Vamos A Besarnos”. Billie The Vison & The Dancers are fast becoming my favorite group for mellow Sunday afternoon listening.

The two albums are available as separate track in 192kbps MP3. If you enjoy the music, support the artists by buying the CDs in higher quality sound.
