Mike Carss, who composes music under the name of Altus, describes his albums as “Aural journeys for the mind’s eye”. His music is very similar to the sonic minimalism of Robert Rich and the ambient new age sounds of Deuter.

The Elements is a four part series of meditative music taking its concept from Aristotle’s elements of Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. All four albums feature a pleasing but smart combination of miscellaneous keyboards and electronics emitting a peaceful calm. Personally I like the atmospheric quality of Air while Water flows along nicely (puns intended). All four albums will be prized by those who enjoy calming thoughtful music of the new age / ambient variety.
