Uniquetunes is a jazz fusion quartet out of St. Petersburg, Russia. Their net album, A Year Rocking is a collection of live performances and is off the excellent Electrosound.ru netlabel.

From the first track, Uniquetunes establishes themselves as a hard swinging jazz group with its foot firmly in acid jazz and funk jazz. The electronics never drown out the jazz allowing melody and improvisation to prevail. The first track “Death by Our Airlines” start with a infectious beat and a sax solo that reminds me of David Sanborn. “Disconnecting People” is a sweet soul number with nice communication between woodwind ( bass clarinet?), guitar and keyboards. “Slow Down” is set at a slow boil and cooks ever so slightly. Throughout these tracks, the artists show an almost telepathic rapport aided by tight and imaginative arrangements. This is an another excellent album from the constantly surprising Russian jazz scene.
