DiskothiQ - The Football Albums
Now that we are well into the American football season, these two albums might go well with your Sunday afternoon buffalo wings and Budweiser. I happen to love football although I can understand why some may ask, like Giles of Buffy The Vampire Slayer did, why Americans need to don 40 pounds of protective gear in order in play Rugby.
The intrepid indie band, DiskothiQ released two free online albums saluting the teams of football. The albums are divided, quite appropriately, into the National Conference and The American Conference. These recording were made in 1999 before realignment and free agency so the tunes are very outdated. Nonetheless, they are clever if not always successful songs. Lyrics like “It’s one thing to lose but to suck is a sin” nicely communicates the power this “game” has its fans as they live and die by their team.
