Explosions In the Sky - The Rescue

Explosions in the Sky has developed a well-deserved reputation as one of the best instrumental bands in indie rock. Those who are doubtful should go out and buy their excellent 2001 release Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever. There is also another alternative for exploring this fascinating music…

The Rescue was originally released as part of a subscription service. It sold out and the CD is now only available for purchase at their live shows. Fortunately for us, you can download it for free at the band’s web site. This home recording sounds like anything but. It’s full of moody and beautiful sounds marred only by an irrelevant dialoque throughout “Day 3″. The overall feel of this EP is similar to their other albums; bittersweet and captivating.

The EP is available in 192kbps MP3. If you enjoy the music, support the artists by buying their CDs. You can check out their other albums here

  3. They’re there. Click on the link (”The Rescue”) right under the CD cover. A separate window will pop up with more info on the CD and links to all the MP3s.

  4. You may find that you have to hold down the CTRL key when you click on the album title link in order to tell your browser that it’s OK to open the pop-up window. It seems that some security settings prevent pop-ups. The hard part is remembering to hold down the CTRL key. Or lower your security and get a virus or worm, etc.

If that doesn’t work let me know, but it works for me.

  6. I enjoyed this album, but not half as much as their album ‘those who tell the truth’ - nice work though!
