Stockfinster - several albums

Swedish composer Stockfinster composes and plays electronic music with a orchestral feel. These soundscapes are luxuriously lyrical with well-placed and meaningful vocal samplings. The over-all feeling is that there is real human emotion emitting through these soundwaves.

The netlabel Sutemos has released All Become Music and it is an excellent sampler for this composer’s works. My favorite track is “Duel’ which nicely blends movie dialoque from the Spielberg movie of the same name with a wistful melodic riff. The title track is also quite memorable with its great buildup of tension and release. Most of Stockfinster’s music is very cinematic sounding. There are tons of electronic music recordings on the internet and only a small percentage that are worth listening to. All Becomes Music is one of the better on-line electronic albums I’ve heard.

Recently Stockfinster has added three on-line albums to his own website. The collections have some of the tracks from the Sutemos release but offers newer tracks too. These three albums appear more thematic to my ears. Car Crash has a somewhat morose feel, with some of the dialogue about death and tragedy. Red Woods has a dense palette of sonics that can be describe as an uneasy journey in life (or a dark forest?). Sunset may be the lushest of the albums with a variety of moods and sounds. Whatever album you listen to, I think you’ll agree that Stockfinster is an outstanding sculpturer of sound and music.
