Bacco Baccanels - Bollate Centro
Bacco Baccanels exists somewheres in the region of jazz, doo-wop and borderline insanity. He creates acappello works with overdubs and voice generated rhythms. The effect might remind the listener of Bobby McFerrin’s vocal style. The apparently modest Bacco may blush at the comparison but, frankly, I find his laid-back and mildly warped vocals very refreshing.
Bollate Centro pretty much kept a smile on my face throughout my repeated listens. Baccanels’ vocal arrangements are quite imaginative with plenty of little surprises. He shows off a nice wah wah guitar affect on “Vai pi Piano”. “Calendario” and “Motel’” are so tight that you might momentarily forget there isn’t a studio band backing him up. My favorite track is “Confuso”, a slightly demented swing number that takes bows to Manhattan Transfer and The Andrew Sisters. All the tracks are in Italian except for “Fearless Little John”. The English lyrics actually tends to detract from the overall affect of the music. I prefer to get lost in Bacco’s vocal bag of tricks.
The album is available in separate tracks of full album zip in 128kbps MP3.
