Alpendub - two albums

When I think of all the musical styles that are waiting to be blended together, electronica and yodeling may be one of the last I would have thought to be compatible. Fortunately, Alpendub and their producer The Man Cable thought differently. Alpendub melds an intoxicating mixture of yodels, folk intruments, and a slew of techno tricks to make a different form of electronica. They provide two free albums on their site

The first one, The Man Cable Presents Alpendub, is not as developed as the second. It sounds more like an experimental project than a group, a perception verified from writings on the web site. The electronics overpower the folk aspects thus the music is interesting but, from my view point, not that successful.

The second album, Jo-Delay, is much better. Alpendub sounds like a band on their own maintaining a nice balance between the two genres. Kutzkelina’s yodeling and vocals are more in the forefront and there is more usage of various traditional instruments such as the zither. This is a fun album, lighter in style than the first.

Both albums are available in 128kbps MP3.

  1. While you’re at it, check out http://www.stimmhorn.ch/english/e_download.html

More swiss yodeling / electronica, with some resonant throat singing thrown in. First track on their download page is awesome!

    Laters…

  4. alpendub has nothing to do with “swiss” yodeling. it’s a austrian project.

  7. Sorry. Alpendub pulled off both albums for the time being. However, I’ve heard that a certain netlabel may be re-releasing them soon. I’ll update this post when and if it happens.
