Update
Download this song. Really. I’ve heard many stories on how this came to be. One of them is that somebody submitted this recording of “O Holy Night” to Christian radio station KTIS to “use for ministry.” It was so ear-splittingly awful, though, they never aired it. Now it’s making the rounds at college campuses and newsgroups. The performance is passionate and terrible: worse than American idol reels of shame, worse than that numa numa guy, worse than you singing along to “I Will Always Love You” alone in your car. It keeps getting worse and worse (better and better). Don’t miss this. It’ll be infamous across the web in a few weeks, no doubt. The OurMedia page is here, or just click the link above for the 64kbps MP3. Consider it a Christmas present.
Things are gearing up for Marvin to take over Free Albums Galore on the 1st of January. He’s already shown me several of the albums he’ll link to, and I think the change of editors will not only be satisfactory, but better than if I’d stayed on.

dude… I mean, what is there to say?

This-can’t-be-real. Seriously. It’s almost sacrilegious.

I find it fascinating that the song is still perceptible as a beautiful song even though it’s almost parodied by this unfortunate man. It’s not helped by the recording’s “wow” and “flutter” - vinyl people of a certain vintage will know what I mean by that. Seeing through the humour, this man also has a good voice and hits the right notes. Oh, I did laugh but can’t help giving credit where credit is due.

Damn you for making me listen to this but by gosh its funny. It has to be a joke right. He launches into an anguished scream of pure awfulness and in the next verse screams even louder and totally out of tune! Its like a tone deaf spasmoid imitating Celine Dion.

Well something I never thought I’d hear. A grunt and grind version of Oh Holy Night.
