Monks and Choirs of Kiev Pechersk Lavra - Chants of the Russian Orthodox Church
The Monks and Metropolitan Choirs of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra have compiled a fantastic CD of Russian Orthodox chants, including traditional carols and religious pieces written by major Russian composers like Rachmaninov. This is even better than Songs of Russian Proletariat. The production is top-notch.
Because Magnatune only provides links for streaming their MP3s (128kbps) via M3U playlists, I’ve provided direct file links below to all 26 MP3 files. If you like this music, please support the artist and buy the album in higher-quality files (including FLAC) or on CD.

Luke, what a fine site and service you provide, my music collection has already been enriched. I’m sorry that my first comment may appear slightly critical, but it is offered constructively. Anyway, I am having difficulties with the links you have provided to these tracks: they are all just 1KB and thus, sadly but not entirely unexpectedly, they don’t contain any chanting. Maybe it’s just me? I thought you’d maybe like to know, however, in case it is not.

Dang-gaum! Magnatune changed the URLs for those files. I fixed the links; they should work now. Thanks for your help! Looks like I’ll need to test my download links more often.

Thanks for your quick response, Luke. Everything’s working well for me now.
I have no religious leanings whatsoever, and given what I know about the Russian Orthodox Church, I would be extremely unlikely to turn to them in the event of any sudden epiphany. And yet, and yet I listen to beautiful music like this, and I can’t help wondering…
Thanks for another great link.

Fabulous! Track 23 blows my mind and tearducts. A good companion to this is the Sacred Treasure series on the Hearts of Space label.

The Orthodox Chant of Pescherk Lavra was last year’s musical great finding to me. Since then I have been involved in learning this music.
